Even worse actually, usb 3 is apparently rated at 900ma at 5v thats 375ma at 12v if the boost converter is 100% efficient.looks dangerous, if anything on the 12v needs more than 833 milliamps your USB port on your computer is going to hate you as it can only deliver up to 2 amps
Interesting.. I didn't get notified about this either.. Did get notified about other threads after this though..Has anyone else experienced issues with notifications?

Startup power requirements?I once tried to power my router with one of these 5-12V convertors - router only takes about 300mA, but for some reason it just didn't work
I think you may have a point there - I should maybe try it again using a better (2.4A) USB supply and try to measure the voltage and current at startupStartup power requirements?
Some devices pull extra to startup. I would think the USB port would protect itself when power is exceeded
