USB adapter for 3G data card

We've been asking Elan for a while to get an adaptor to test, so far without any luck. Does not seem they're working yet.

As new adaptors become available, they are issued to subscribers, so there is no 'standard' card that gets issued.

Hope this helps.

I have two Novatel cards and both are the U630 Vodafone branded ones. The website you have indicated does show the Merlin U630 as supplied by Vodacom SA, lower down the page.

I use the PCI / PCMCIA converter from Elan and that works great, can't see why the USB Elan adaptor will not work.

Edit: I think Vodacom3G's answers are more reliable:D , my answers are speculation.

There was an issue with conflicting USB masters and (as originally told to me by Elan!) USB adaptors therefore cannot work.

There must be something in the achitecture of the U630 that makes them think it's possible.

As soon as we can get a working model, we'll test and give feedback.

Probably just marketing...they're obviously close to getting it right and launching, but maybe jumped the gun a bit.

A bit like launching pre-paid data bundles......
