When you say disconnecting, do you mean the connection drops, or the USB device gets disconnected from Vista itself with all the ping pong noises that go with that?

Specifically which updates did you try to install [full filenames]?

Which dashboard s/w are you using, e.g. VMC Lite?

If you are not using VMC Lite, what firmware version is your E220 running?

Have you tried disabling the drive letter?

If you are using VMC Lite, have you tried VMC or HMP or MDMA?

Hi

It is the USB device that disconnects not just the connection.

the firmware update was : Huawei E220 USB Modem (HSDPA)Downloads-Firmware Upgrade 11.117.09.04.00

I use VMC Lite.

My firmware version is 11.117.09.04.00 (which I see now is the same as the upgrade version)

I have found that I have had weird problems with 11.117.09.04.00. Some people are fine, but some people experience these random problems. Like disconnecting the connection. But not sure about disconnecting the USB port completely.

I would trying going back to the older firmware:- 11.110.05.00.00

Otherwise it could be a USB port problem. But if you say these problems only started when you updated your firmware, then I think it's the firmware.

Take out the SIM and start the dashboard.

Set the profile to 3G Only. (Settings -> Network Preference -> 3G Only)

Remove from USB port, pop in SIM, and try again.
