Hi,

I have a slight issue where I need a USB head replaced on my VR headset. I cannot find anyone who can do it. Does anybody know someone who can do this?

Your location would be a a good start, as well as make/model of headset? What damage has been done to the connector?

I am in Gauteng.

Its an hp reverb. And no, HP cant replace a USB connector, I have asked.

My newphew ran roughshod over the USB connector with the office chair wheels. It is completely mangled inside. :D

So I literally just need someone who can replace the USB connector that I plug into my pc.

I have done this. Both headphones and a headset. It was easiest to solder the 5 cables (4+shield) of a flying lead to the board inside the headset as the USB socket is an integral part of the unit.

Really tiny connections, had to use a desk magnifier. The one I looked at had a micro USB socket. RS Components supplied a female socket

But a competent electronics repair place can do this for you. The most difficult part was disassembling the headset

I couldnt find a competent electronics store then. :D

Everyone tells me that they cant do it. And I took a look at the size of the wires...and I just cannot do that type of fine work. My fingers are just not made for walking that type of yellow pages. :D

If you know of someone that can, I am more than happy to pay for shipping as a new headset will cost me like 12k at least.

Oh cool, let me try to figure this out. I am so un tech savy its not funny.

Try this place and see if they would be willing to do it.
