USB cup warmers, any good?

Word up yo!

I'm thinking of purchasing one of 'em wizzbang fancy USB cup warmers for my boss for xmas, very apt gift for the guy.

So, do they really do the job?
 
I've got one (rofl!!!)

It sucks, doesn't keep the coffee warm, but it's actually quite useful in that it constantly displays the temp on the "plate", which is room temp when the cup-warmer is not switched on.
I got mine for free from a medical-rep though, so maybe one that has been bought might work better! :p
 
I have one packed away somewhere. Novelty factor is waaay up there. Actual usefulness depends. Mine keeps my coffee at around 40C - or so it says. Truth be told, I didn't ever have to drink a cold cup of coffee while using it...
 
I think these are novelty units, won't use one either as it might stress the USB bus by drawing too much juice...
 
Mine sucks - coffee was always cold - threw it away.
 
If you dig through my trash you can get one for free. Didn't keep the coffee warm and my USB ports were never the same after using it.
 
The USB bus supplies 500mA at 5Vdc (maybe even up to a whole amp on a desktop PC). Using P=VxA that's a whopping :rolleyes: 2.5W of heating ..err.. 'power' - you really think that's going to amount to much? :D
 
i think a microwave does a good job of heating old coffee hahahahaha

most offices should have one considering they only cost like 400 bucks :)
