I have a laptop with only 2 usb ports but I seriously need another USB connection as I need to use a USB modem, printer with USB cable and a mouse at the same time. Could anyone give me any advice on what I could do/buy to solve my problem?
Thx

These are both great, ±R250

Vantec ugt-mh600 7port USB 2.0 hub , with piano black finish + vertical stand , with ac-adapter , plastic , 93x45x15mm

D-link DUB-H7 7port USB 2.0 hub , with ac-adapter , plastic , 99.6x59x25.7mm

I know for a fact that the Vantec is able to power plenty devices.

yea, go for a powered hub if at all possible.

+1 especially if you want to use a 3G modem on it as laptops can sometimes struggle to support the power with the likes of the E1820 if there's too many other USB devices attached

be sure the power rating of the transformer is strong enough to handle everything you want to plug in.

Using a Dlink myself (for my hd scanner) 3Amp rating and works perfectly.

+1 on the Vantec. Have one myself, used it for 5 or 6 externals when I needed them all running at the same time. Since then I got 3 x USB 2 port add on's for the back of my pc so I only use it for the printer and occasional external.

Otherwise great product. If I recall though, you do need an adapter plug as the plug supplied isn't a South African socket shaped plug lol

As mentioned before: look at getting a powered USB Hub. Especially due to the 3Gmodem you wish to run

Thanks to everyone for your replies. Will definitely go the powered USB hub way.
