I want to know if there is any endorsed and efficient hardware out there that can make my HSDPA PCMCIA slot Vodafone modem useful at my home office attached to my PC via USB 2.0 and linked throughout via wireless networking, & then, when on the road, removed and connected straight to my laptop. I have seen these devices on the internet but I'm not sure how good they are.

There are two options.

1) USB adaptor for PCMCIA modems - Have a look at Elan Digital Systems

2) Use a 3G router on your local network and plug your card into it. When you travel, take the card with you.

A third option would be to use a USB modem such as the Huawei E220.
