You mean the AOC E2251FWU, as carried by Esquire (YMMV for stock in your area), for which the DisplayLink site seems to have a driver? The smaller version seems okay, it may not be unreasonable to infer that the bigger model would too.
Shot. More expensive than I was hoping for, but will go this route if there is nothing else.
Portability. Seen a handful of people at work with them and they are convenient as we are constantly on the go.
Also remembered them being a grand at most (that might have been for the 768x1366 version, though).
Various. Convenience or necessity.
By example: I have 12" tablet with broken LCD, still in use. When power is gone my external screen goes blank, but tablet still running on internal battery.

Those are the ones which I can confirm do not work properly with Win 8.1. Perfect on Win 7 though.

Was about R900 with shipping and works perfectly on Windows 7
Unfortunately, they are out of stock.
Micropoint don't sell without opening an account, but whatever hoops you need to go through in order to get your hands on external USB powered monitor, go for it!

Just to let you know that our container of the 15” AOC USB should arrive in the second week of April , we run out of stocks due to a huge order of 400 units from an educational institution in January/ February
As we normally work on the JIT ( Just in Time ) system this order threw us out on our ordering process
Currently there is no AOC 15” in South Africa as we are the only company that imports them (unless somebody is sitting with Old stock)
Stock of these monitors should be back normal once this container arrives.
