My usb ports dont work. When I plug in an usb device nothing happens. What can I do to fix it?

Do you know if the devices are detected but the drivers arn't loaded, eg has the yellow ! in device manager?

Rebooted your PC?

Your USB devices enabled in the BIOS?

Try booting from a Knoppix CD and see if Knoppix will pick up/detect any USB devices.

If Knoppix works, then it might be Windows that's going funny.

I have rebooted my pc. My flash drives has a light when it is plugged in but when I do there is nothing. The drives work on my brothers pc. And it worked on my pc a few weeks back

i did not disable it. It worked and then suddenly it stop to work. Its like that in all my operating systems

I had the exact same problem on my old 865PE board.
What I did to solve the problem was; I uninstalled all the drivers for the USB port (right click, uninstall in device manager) and reinstalled the chipset driver for the board (in my case it was the Intel INF drivers). Windows then detected the new hardware found, and proceeded to load load the drivers for the USB ports, and my problem was solved.

What motherboard do you have?

Try downloading the USB drivers for your board here

Uninstall all USB devices in the Device Manager, restart your pc, then install the downloaded ones.
Worked in my case. so I hope it helps you.

It is not drivers. It worked and then it didnt. And it is like that on all my operating systems

check to see if your power managment for usb devices is on default, also untick in control panel powersave for usb devices and ports.sorry on opera mini so typing is bliss
