Use Skype to send SMS’s

I've been using this for a while now and it works great. The Vodacom international sms rates I used to have to pay for smsing abroad were atrocious.

A great feature of Skype SMS is that (in most cases as its network dependant) it spoofs your cellphone number so any replies go there.

EDIT - 98c to SA? I cant be the only one who doesnt pay VAT. The VAT rates shown on skypes price pages are what EU users pay
If your billing address is in the EU, you will be charged 15% VAT when you buy Skype Credit. However, the calls will be shown on your call list and your account will be credited exclusive of VAT.

sadly smsbug isn't that afforable either.not when you buy a sms bundle from say mtn ,smsbug is cheaper for international sms tho....
 
I recently recommended the Skype SMS service to someone who is finding that the SMS's aren't going immediately, but sometimes being sent up to 5 hours later!

That can happen regardless of who you use to send, especially when sending overseas. I've had network sent smses delayed by days before not just hours. You should never rely on a sms for sending time critical info.
