Use speedstick for cellphone calls

In the old days you got a kit that plugged directly into those vanilla 3G laptop modems, allowing you to make and receive calls. Worked okish.

Wow, never knew that. It's interesting what these people make these days, on Tuesday I was told that my work notebook has GPS. I wonder what its uses are besides maybe tracking the thing if lost/stolen.

The main thing you can use that GPS for is to locate yourself with some degree of accuracy on a map and all the things that of course sprouts from this. E.g turn by turn navigation etc etc. I'm pretty sure that GPS would be useless if the laptop ever got stolen - GPS is a one way technology, you'd need a GSM/Cellphone module of some kind to get the laptop to send its exact coordinates to you or some outside server before you'd be able to fully "track" it.
