Hey guys, it's not actually such a biggie, but I am so stoked about this website that I just had to tell someone about it - www.free082sms.co.za

The story is that the vodacom4me website is blocked at work, so I can't send free SMSes during work hours using vodacom4me. However, I can access www.free082sms.co.za which allows me to access vodacom4me indirectly and send my 20 free smses from work!!!! It's so awesome. The site also has a really simple look, so it's nice and inconspicuous if I open it in the office - it attracts no attention.

In addition to this, unlike Vodacom4me, I can also load Freevodasms on my cellphone and send free smses directly from my phone - I guess I did mention that I love it already, but going to shut up now so they don't block this site at work too :)

Um. Why re-invent the wheel? http://wap.defza.com/voda/
True, but as a matter of fact I prefer this one :) It is much more simpler and is text only :) So when im using it via GPRS on my iPhone it's cheaper and easier to use :)
The defza one has an irritaiting advert on the side and a colour backgroud! :)

Thanks for the link OP!

It ain't that bad...

Well spotted :) Should be fine then :D

Wow - trust a third party with my vodacom username and password?

NOT A CHANCE!

Exactly why we have to block these sites and in some cases need to take it further.

Although the intentions *could* be pure in some of these sites, the reality is that you give your 4me username and password to a third party. And you have no control what is then done with that information.

How about someone activating a 10GB bundle on your account or canceling your current bundle so you run out of bundle or otherwise mess with your services?

Or sell your details to a third party.

And then Vodacom gets blamed if your details is used by someone else?

Also, the idea behind the free SMS's is to promote 4me as a site. So any attempt to use the free SMS service without going via 4me is not going to fly and could easily result in the free service being suspended.

And I'm sure most of us would not want that.

My idea would be to do it through software, like Antibody does with their SAIX ADSL usage Stats Analyser. That way you download an application that logs in for you.

BTW, using another system to log in, by giving out your password is in breach of the T&C's:

From: https://www.vodacom4me.co.za/vodacom4me-personal/termsAndConditions.do?operation=init

7. PASSWORD

If you have a password you undertake to keep it secure and warrant that no other person shall use the Services utilising your password, and you acknowledge further that you are responsible for ensuring that no unauthorised access to the Services is obtained using your password, and that you will be liable for all such activities conducted pursuant to such use, whether authorised or not.
