Hi Guys,

Time has not been on my side lately and I'm not getting enough time to hit the gym.

Problem now is this:
Do I go out and buy a home gym and cancel my gym contract?

I was looking at some second hand home gyms but I don't want gym machines. I just want
a bench for Bench presses, one of those arm bars with the V shapes in it and weights.

But, does it mean I will use it if it's at home? I go to the gym to social with the other people
and I always have a spotter there. I can't ask my wife to spot for me :o :D she will never be able to
pick the bar up if I run dry on energy. Do I get my brother to gym with me ...

I don't know. I have been neglecting my upper body due to this for the last 2 months due to not
having time to go to gym and I'm a sad panda :(

No no and no. . . . . You will not use it trust me.

I was in the exact same boat, asked around for advice and everyone told me don't waste your money, you will use it a few times and never again. I swore I would use it but at the end of the day everyone was right. Ended up selling the lot, although I kept my dum bells which I never use :p

But I guess there must be people out that can do it, I wasn't one of them.

When you are home it is hard to motivate yourself to gym. When you go to the gym you actually have no choice but to go and do some exercise. One of those funny things.

This is my view as well.

But I honestly don't have the time lately to go to gym. Unless I get up like 4am :o

I don't know :( Maybe I should just give it a rest for now and start from scratch again when I have the free time

yeah if you have no time for gym you wont use a home gym, to gym at home you really need to be dedicated, likewise with gym, thus a partner is always helpful.

there is simply too much distraction when having a home gym

I started doing some using a home gym about two weeks ago and still going strong. Might still be early days though. Hopefully I can keep it up.

Same thing here on time- I bought one of those verimark pull-up bars that clips onto a door frame. I just use it to do push-ups and dips- takes like ten minutes a day which is a lot less "intimidating" than a whole workout so its easy to fit into my morning routine. funny enough I've now picked up more mass than 2 years of going to the gym.

Cash Converters always have that stuff lurking somewhere in the store. Probably for the reasons given above.

I guess you could always try. Worst case scenario is sell whatever you bought if you are not using it anymore.

Please get a home gym so the rest of us don't have to wait for you to finish your 15 minute conversation while "using" a machine...

lol, no no no.

I don't use the machines :p

And we chat between sets or while doing cardio and so on. If you push iron the way I do, you can't talk while working out :o

wahahahahah dude, made me lol

I'd Hire a gym trainer to help me. Buying gym equipment is going to be a waste of money.

Your physical condition will deteriorate if you use a home gym. There just isn't enough flexibility there and your motivation levels will be lower. But if it's the only choice you have go for it. Is it not possible though to just wake up earlier and hit the gym before work?

For me to put in at least 1 hour. I will need to get up at 4am. I'm normally at the gym for 1.5 hours to 2 ours.

That means getting up at 3:30 or 3:00.

This just won't work :(

talk less at gym and be out of there in 45 min, tops 1 hour. 1 hour of gyming will be better than nothing and in my opinion sufficient anyway for most. also if you have a gym near work i can almost gaurentee that going to gym instead of going straight home will cut out a fair bit of traffic and in the end save you time.

+1. You waste time in the gym. 45 minutes is more than adequate. Do more high-intensity stuff.

I don't shower at the gym. I shower at home.

I do chat allot with people at the Gym, between getting dressed, sets, moving from one weight section to another. (In the evenings though) Everyone there just about knows me personally. I'll be honest and say about 1/4 of the time maybe 1/2 the time is wasted chatting away and having friendly chatter.

That should help a bit a guess.

Maybe if I go early morning I won't meet any regulars there and be out quicker...

I think you might be on to something.

or if you go at night stick ear phones in, and just give passing nods

I'm looking for one of those door frame bars. I don't see it on the Verimark site. Do they just have them in the stores, like Game?
