Used home Gym...

Please get a home gym so the rest of us don't have to wait for you to finish your 15 minute conversation while "using" a machine...

What about the okes who just sit on the machines gazing into the distance? You don't know if they are resting between sets or just thinking about where to take their next holiday.

I'm looking for one of those door frame bars. I don't see it on the Verimark site. Do they just have them in the stores, like Game?

yes, something like R199

edit: and i think it is glomail not verimark

Glomail does not have it on their website either (not on Verimark). Any suggestions?

If I may contradict the general advice so far...
I purchased my own equipment 7-8 years ago and it was one of the best investments I ever made (iron plates have almost doubled in price in that time...). I have a flat bench, dumbbell bars and a barbell + about 140kgs in plates. I like to do short intense workouts, and having it at home is perfect - any time I get the urge to push some iron, there's no time wasted getting on with it - within a minute I'm heaving and sweating. I can blast the music I like. I don't have to roll around in other people's sweat.

Safety is something to consider - make sure you have enough room around your work-out area, and I'd suggest re-considering your weight/rep scheme if you can't finish sets without a spotter. Of course, I am not a 'serious' weight-mover, I don't bench over my own bodyweight (which means even if I do get stuck at the bottom of a rep, it's possible to roll the bar down my chest a bit and sit up - although I typically only bench dumbbells), so if you are one of those powerhouse dudes that benches 200kg for a warmup, firstly you need top-range equipment (no Game-special bar racks), and second you should not work-out alone in your home. Consider your flooring too, rubber mats would be a good idea for any floor you don't particularly want ruined, and if you're in the habit of dropping weights to the floor, well it's your floor but I have personally learned to use very controlled movements to settle weights back on the floor.

Obviously do not waste your money on any kind of machine, my recommendation would be free weights only.

I have built up my home gym over a couple of years and now have a decent treadmill, x-trainer, general weight machine, bench, dumbells and straight bar, punch bag. I use it as frequently as I can - it has a comfortable home in my flat and it's been worth every cent. I just don't get time to go to a gym. As for spotting, stick to dumbells for heavy lifting - that way if you fail, you have less chance of injuring yourself. Try to find dumbells with a quick release key for the weights - those spin on-off things are time consuming. Also, a pull-up bar, dips station are handy for bodyweight stuff. The hardest part of my routine is hams and legs - I must look at a squat rack. I've taken to front squats - far more core involved and compound exerscise. Seriously - get yourself a home gym. You can be done in 45 minutes flat and at already at home!

I also work out at home. Nothing crazy though. Pushups, dumbells, squats etc. I do it 3 times a week for 20 mins a workout which is really all I need. Oh, and soccer once a week.

I do it at about 9pm before I shower and afterwards I relax with a movie and a casein protein Choc shake. As I type this, I'm about to do my little work out. :)

I wouldn't say I'm am ripped but looking better than I have in a long time. I've been going strong for a year and I wont be stopping any time soon.

Aren't you buff enough pitbull?

The pic I saw of you, you could probably pick up 2 average mybb members with your bare hands :D

I say go to the Gym rather, at home you don't have sexy gym rats to motivate you as much :o
