Hi Guys

Can you please recommend a source where I can search for used motorbikes? I am looking for BMW R1200 GS Adventure, looking at spending R100K. Bike should not exceed mileage of 100 000KM

So far I have used te following sources:
Gumtree, BMW motorrad website, autotrader

Also check http://www.bikefin.co.za

They have an awesome selection (evein if a tad outdated) and offer great rates for financing.

I'll be using them to finance my bike next week.

Also check out the thinkbike.co.za forums. They have a classifieds section.
You might find something through there. I also recommend bikefind.co.za - pretty awesome site that.

I would pay to see a bike with more than 100 000 km's on the clock :D

You seriously think there are biks out there with 100 000 km's on the clock? That like 1 million km's for a car :D

I was about to post the same :p The offroad touring bikes generally get ridden into dust. I know my dad did something like 60 000kms in 3 or 4 years

Ok I bow down to you.

I would never have guessed someone having a bike over 100k km's that is just stupid :D

These days bikes are used to commute to work, that will surely push up the mileage. Whats so strange with bike having more then 100 000 KM:wtf:

I have owned in total about 7 bikes.

None of them ever went over 35k. 35k was allot of Km's for a CBR900. I'm still proud of doing 36k on that bike without it being crashed or the engine killing over.

My GS is heading to 110k kms and I'm getting ready to take it on a 9 provinces-in-one-go-on-dirt ride when all the fools on holiday is back at work. :D Us touring okes don't skrik high miles much, and mine is still a spring chicken compared to plenty other bikes out there.

High mileage on non-sport bikes are not something that should bother you as long as its been looked after, but I would not buy a sports bike with 100k on it though.

I have had tons of bikes over the years, but hell I wouldnt buy a GSXR / CBR / ZX / R1 or any superbike with even 30 000 km's on the clock. The goldwings / BMW GS's are very very tough engines, and its not uncommon to see them around with high mileage.

Most of my superbikes I keep up to around 30 000km's max, then I sell them. Esspecially them poor suzuki GSXR's... at rally's and social events they are always the top dogs when it comes to abuse :-p

Lets be honest, you dont buy a GSXR 1000 to go buy bread and milk at the cafe...

Once you get to the higher mileage figures, thats when people start opening up the engines to do the valve clearances, replace clutches etc, and backyard mechanics get their hands into these highly precision tuned engines... Ofc here and there you get a fanatic that really looked very well after his bike, but thats normally very hard to find.

My 250 Ninja just hit 30,000kms and she's still going just fine. Only 2 years old this month. As long as you keep up with the services, I don't see why anything should be wrong with it.
