Useless at cooking

I'm bachelor'ing it up now too.

Easiest and cheapest things I find to make are:

Hake/fish fingers + oven bake chips. Chuck it in the oven for 20mins and done.

Stirfry: Buy premixed "french/hawaiian" stirfry from Spar, buy a 4/6 pack of chicken breasts and freeze it. Use 1/3rd of a stirfry pack with 2 chicken breasts that you cut up yourself. (This is enough to feed 2 people - or supper/breakfast :D) Use olive oil and soy sauce in a pan / wok. fry the chicken until it's not raw anymore, then chuck in the stir fry.

Buy white rice / jasmin rice and flavoured-pasta-packages. Cook the rice (I still suck at getting it 100%) and the pasta separately. Water + margarine + milk + pasta-sauce-powder = win! Serve pasta on rice.

For days when I'm lazy the chinese restaurant up the road sells takeaway Cashew-nut & chicken + white/egg rice for R28. It's overfilling.

But those things I highlighted are not healthy if you eat it on a regular basis .... JMO.

Skilly Skilly

1. Tin of Bully Beef
2. Tin of tomatoe stew
3. Tin of Bake Beans
4. Put all in pot
5. Heat up till hot.
6. Tuck in with bread or bread rolls

Note: If friends arrive, just add an extra tin of each!!

Sorry,I forgot to say cut the bully into squares......

Ok my bachelor recipes

I call this The bachelor cameltoe

Take potato don’t skin it. Boil till skin becomes loose = its ready
Skin with hands while hot, Serve with mayonnaise

This recipes is what I eat most during the week

Boil paste until it sticks on the roof when thrown
Strain and leave in the strainer
Open can of john west tuna (must be john west or this wont work!)
Eat paste from strainer and tuna from can
Don’t do the dishes

These are my lazy ass french fries

Take potatoes and cut into squares. Waste much?
Dice cubed potatoes in to square slices
Deep fry in oil
Eat your square chips and leave the oil for the domestic. HTF do they get it back into bottle?

Bachelordom rocks:love:

Sounds slobbish and unhealthy :)

4: Leftover rice can easily be turned into egg fried rice (see eggs again). They need to have been sitting out for a day to get the right consistency otherwise they become mushy when they fry, but just fry them on a pan for a short time, then add an egg and whatever else you have lying around - any veggies will work, a tomato is good - and some soy sauce.

I also make egg rise from leftover rice all the time.

5: Make sure to stock up on ingredients like minced garlic, beef/chicken/veg cubes, dried herbs and spices, aromat - and always have the most fundamental (and cheapest) food items in your cupboard like potatoes, rice, onions, tinned tomatoes, chutney.
6: Frozen veggies are just as healthy as fresh, last forever and are pre-chopped. Never be without them. They can be added to nearly anything, either as a part of the dish or as a side dish on their own boiled and with a dollop of margarine.

Also always have salads. Lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, cheese, gherkins, carrots, celery, olives etc. Mix and match and it goes with almost every meal lunch or dinner.

Tuna is another must have for lunches. Tuna and pasta, tuna and potatoes, tuna and salad, toasted tuna and mayo sandwiches.... :D

EDIT: I see Murdoc follows a similar tuna diet

What a useless dickwad. FHM magazine ran a useful column. You nominated a TV personality who deserved a harpoon through the face. I recall Jamie Oliver (the TV cook) was one who achieved this dubious honour. I agreed wholeheartedly.

:wtf:

French toast sandwiches:
Make sandwiches with cheese and tomato or any other filling
Remember salt and pepper
Soak it in raw egg (both sides)
Fry in pan
Super easy and very filling

Easy pasta:
Buy those pasta "kits" in a box at PnP with pasta and powder sauce (R15)
Buy tuna or mussels (Mussels are almost same price as tuna)
Follow instructions
There's enough pasta for supper as well as lunch next day

Veggie toast:
Fry mushrooms and baby marrows in pan
Add chilli or something for kicks
Make toast
Put veggies on toast and cover with cheese
Add some sauce if you like (Veri Peri chilli mayo is my favourite)
Microwave until cheese is melted
Tastes awesome!

Well I am currently writing a Cook Book and it is targeted at individuals with no cooking skills. It guides you effortlessly through the cooking process of some really lovely receipts that even your mother would be envious about. I am looking forward to sharing it with you guys in the future. Cooking is an art but doesn't have to be complicated ;)

My mum doesn't have receipt envy. Whatever that is.

Simplest thing for a bachelor to do is get a steamer for veggies/eggs and a pressure cooker. Recipes everywhere for both and almost no way to fail if you follow instructions (treat the pressure cooker like it's a metal pot full of pressure).
