Three month ago I purchased their Connecta ZTE router package. After three months of continues phoning and emailing them about the pathetic reception they have finally admitted that in spite of their claims of "up to 90 Mbps" they can only supply maximum of 2 Mbps! They refused to refund the cost of the Router or non-used data! Disgusting attitude!

Yup same here pretty useless signal and download speeds that is if you lucky enough to get signal! Moving to Telkom end of month...

#braamventer.

Groete

Regarding the Home Connecta Flexi product, most customers usually purchase one of the smallest prepaid bundles like the 4GB for R45 or the 12GB for R89 to test the service first before purchasing something more expensive. I don't get great speeds myself (probably around 5Mbps on average) but up until a week ago the service was relatively cheap and convenient. They have now discontinued all of the larger cost-effective bundles and replaced them with smaller more expensive bundles which has annoyed a lot of their current customers such as myself. If you want to avoid a lengthy contract the 80GB for R189 might still have merits if the download speeds are adequate. You could also try moving the position of your router or putting the SIM card into a different device such as a phone to see if that helps.

What package are you planning to purchase from Telkom?

I actually bought that exact package 80 GIG for R189, I had great speeds and service for the first 3-4 days and after that it just started slowly getting worse. It cane to a point where I had no service on device and cell said emergency calls only. Customer care said my router settings was faulty, using same router at exactly same place. I tried my friends router and moved it around, sometimes it gets a bit of signal but red light on most of time. So basically I have given up at my house, going out with the router is better but still very poor downloads. Anyway going to move to MWeb using Telkom 80Gig for R199. They have checked my area and it's the best way forward I recon...

I was going to suggest that you visit a Cell C and ask them to test the SIM card as a number of customers were having trouble with faulty SIM cards but you do seem to be able to browse the Internet? My download speeds are not great either but I have been satisfied up until the latest product changes.

If you decide to switch to the MWeb/Telkom Fixed LTE, this thread might be of interest (read comments by BCR). I was under the impression that you could transfer data to other Telkom users but this does not appear to be the case with this product. On most Telkom data products you can transfer up to 10GB per month of data to other Telkom users but this does not appear to be the case with this product unless you purchase an additional package from MWeb.

If you are not very familiar with the Home Connecta Flexi products, 5 days before your current bundles expire you need to roll over your remaining anytime and nighttime data balances to extend the bundle for an additional 30 days instead of expiring after just 30 days (*147# -> My Account -> Bundle Rollover) . You must also manually set the out of bundle spend control (*147# -> My Account -> OOB Spend Control) to R0.00 (all settings) as any remaining airtime on the SIM card will be used up in seconds once your bundles are finished (need to do this on both AIO and HCF SIMs)!

If you do four airtime recharges of R50 onto a SIM card that is on the All-In-One data plan and play the Spin-And-Win Game you can earn an additional 5GB of free data on the AIO SIM card. You can transfer all of the R200 airtime that you loaded onto the AIO SIM onto the HCF SIM to purchase the HCF bundle.
