Had a problem connecting to internet, there was just no connection on my laptop or phone, so decided to try and phone Vodacom Data Services or whatever they're called. I've now been on hold for 38 mins and I'm still listening to how a consultant will be with me shortly. Is this how important Vodacom customers are to the company?

Got through to someone after abt 45 mins and once I did they were very good and helpful so I guess you guys are just busy with the HSPDA launch.

You have more patience than me, I would have hung up after 10 minutes and started composing angry emails. but then again you wouldn't be able to send those would you....

It is very frustrating! No matter what you hold on for - accounts department, customer care, data queries... but who does one complain to, & what would it even help to complain??

I don't think the customer service is a problem, is getting through to someone.
It is taking on average 20 mins to get through to vodacom, regardless of the time of day....

Employee more people in the call centre :!:!:!:

The only thing that gave me patience was having a speaker phone which meant I could just ignore it till I heard a real person.

Possibly the problem is this: there is no incentive for the company, no regulation, sanction neither any effective way to complain. If they were forced to pay a fine for every day of non-service I'm sure we would see a difference!

The big boys of Vodacom must pocket more money, they can't employ more ppl in the call centre. So please.. give the big boys a break! :D

Yes, but hopefully they'll answer the phone quicker to tell you this....

LOL, yeah then I can keep phoning back until I get someone with a brain since I won't be on hold all day long.

Yep, we need a new job creation scheme, but at least have an escalation path so if dummyX can't sort it at least dummyX+1 can have a crack.

I've given up on 082 155 after many, many long waits with no reply (even before the HSDPA launch). Vodacom should sponsor this forum - it is doing far more customer care work than 082 155 ever will.

Yesterday I reported bad coverage in my area, today a vodacom rep named Yusaf (think thats how its spelt) called and was very helpfull.

So, at this stage I'm pretty happy with vodacom's customer service levels.

yeah its astounding what you can get done if you get the right person on the line, saves you having to hang up and phone again.maybe vodacom should set up a system where just before you hang up you press like 1,2,3 or what ever to rate the service and help you got. and that way you can weed out the people who help u jack s***. i remember on new years day i phoned up 111 to see if they could trace my phone as i lost it that night(long story...), i was nursing the biggest babalaas ever when i phoned them, i was in a state cause i couldnt find my phone. and amazingly the guy on the other end tried his best to find out about my phone... and calmed me down. i never did get that phone back. but atleast someone from Vodacom eased the pain. might have something to do with the fact he sounded cute..........
