Using BB without BIS - what will work?

If I don't have BIS activated, what will and won't work?

I think the following...can anyone correct/add?

Using Vodacom normal data usage - (MyMeg500), one could use:
Browser (Opera or Bolt)
Gmail app
Any other 3rd party email app
Whatsapp for IM
Most 3rd party apps
Normal SMS
Facebook App
Twitter App

One could not use:
BIS push email
BBM

Is this about right????

I don't think the RIM Facebook and twitter app will work.
 
I've deactivated BIS and so far gmail, facebook and twitter dont seem to work without BIS.

There really is little point in having a blackberry if you're not going to activate BIS.

+1 Blackberry is all about BIS. Not using BIS is like having a car but not using petrol...
 
Thanks for the feedback guys. Only need to use without BIS until contract migration at month end - my wifes current contract cannot have BIS activated. Her new 9700 arrives tomorrow morning by courier, so she'll be able to stare at her new BB for 3 odd weeks before she can use it properly.

Thanks, I've got my own 9700 (BIS activated) already...my wife got jealous and wants to dump her iPhone 3GS, so I bought her her own 9700 (the one arriving tomorrow). She needs to migrate her iPhone contract to something else though before BIS can be activated :(
 
Yeah it's pretty much like one of those el-cheapo specials without BIS, just got mine today and waiting for BIS to activate (business... so everything takes longer), cant MMS, cant check Gmail (App) ... can just phone and sms.
