Hi,
I bought an usb modem Huawei E160X. The UMTS frequence of my provider (Rogers, in Canada) is 850MHz and 1900MHz. This modem only works on EDGE but no chance to get any 3G.

Anybody can tell if there is anything I can do to make it work on 850/1900 frequency?

The specifications of this modem say GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 with UMTS/HSDPA and Receive diversity (850 / 1900 / 2100 MHz).

Can somebody say what "receive diversity" means?

When I do: AT^SYSCFG=?
I receive: ^SYSCFG:(2,13,14,16),(0-3),((80000,"GSM850"),(200000,"GSM1900"),(2000000000000,"WCDMA900"),(400380,"GSM900/GSM1800/WCDMA2100"),(3fffffff,"All Band")),(0-2),(0-4)

It's very unclear to me if this modem is able work in UMTS on 850/1900MHz... Currently it runs firmware 11.609.10.02.432.B418.

Does anybody know?
Any comment or suggestion is very welcomed.

Read bitmap description for enabling frequencies using SYSCFG command in this thread (page 3, post 6692500):

Easy way is to use MDMA beta, click band config. If frequency is not supported, it will show error.
I expect your modem do not support WCDMA 850/1900MHz.
E160X series is either 900MHZ or 850/1900MHz, not both. As it reports 900MHz, I think it won't accept 850/1900MHz.

Thanks a lot for your help. Already tried that with no luck.
Stupid thought: could it be a firmware that would change that?
