Anyone got it right to use the host's printer from a virtualbox guest? Linux has to download something to my printer to access it, so I can't install it as an XP printer in the guest OS. Samba the way to go?

What I do is to share my printer, then add the printer in Vbox via the network.
So yes, Samba is the way to go. Do you have VBox-ose, or the vbox from their site?

Well, I think I'll put this on hold until I get my adsl modem/router later this week. (Can't wait to disconnect iB.) All the Samba stuff seems to want a static IP address for the host, so I'll wait until I've got a router to hide behind.

Might be a little easier. Samba works hand in hand with your networking in order to um... work.

It's just sad, that it's so much easier to do the file & printer sharing thing on an m$ network (which is what Samba is trying to emulate) :(

It is? I have absolutely no problem whatsoever doing file or printer sharing across my network.
