using macs to automate your home, security, etc... ?

is anyone using macs to automate your home, security, etc... ? a while back, i was reading about X11 hardware & software for your mac which you can automate everything. also, using webcams for security purposes. i know theres alot of software which uses motion detection,

anyone here pioneered this move?

I use my iSight Camera with an Automator script to e-mail a photo every 10 seconds when I'm not around my Mac, you would be surprised at how many people try to play with your machine when you're not there.
