I did try google first for an answer but no luck, so my question is, is there some device or multiple adaptor that one could use to power 3 x 12v items via your car lighter plug?

Currently I have the tomtom that i have connected, but I am looking at getting a steering wheel Bluetooth adaptor which also requires the 12v plug and then I am getting a cell phone that also uses the 12v – so how does one use multiple devices or is it just not possible?

Camping shops that are related to caravanning will have an array of adapters for the cigarette lighter. I bought one that has a point that you plug into the lighter socket, and then provides 3 points on a strip for things to plug into.

My car has 3 12V outlets:
- Cigarette lighter
- 1x outlet in Console box (together with USB and aux inputs)
- 1x outlet in Boot

First add up the amount of current all the devices require.

Basically you just need to look on whatever it is, somewhere it'll say 5amp, 5A, 50watt, whatever.

If it's amp, then just sum them all together. If it's watt convert to amp first:
watt/12

Once you have the combined current it'll use, multiply by 12 again :p

IE. amp * 12(volts) = xxx watts.

In the car manual it'll list the maximum amount of power (in watts), or the maximum current (in amps) the socket can handle, do not exceed that amount, best case scenario it'll blow a fuse, worst case the wires might get damaged (slim chance of that tho).

Btw. if such an adapter cannot be found it's quite simply to make some kind of splitter that will give you three outputs.

Just go to the local fleea market and buy one.
I'm sure some chinese dude will be more than happy to sell you one.
Yes they exist, even with 5v-USB plug . :D

Edit: Car's cig ligter socket is usually 20A, so it will handle all of your stuff with no problem.
