I was wondering if anyone knew, i plugged my nokia 5800 to see what the modem would be like. Speeds are pretty crazy 100kps. My question though, am i getting charged for surfing the net using the phone as a modem? It tells me i am connected to Vodacom SA.

Thanks

Didn't know it was that damn expensive. Where do you find this info?

How bout if i use it (surf) without being connected to a comp?

blackberry charges you for using data from a tethered connection. only surfing on the handset is free. well, you pay for it, but it's bundled afaik.

all data charges should be listed on your sp's website. not sure why you're so surprised about the costs. it's the same as using a 3g usb dongle.

Your best option is to activate a Data Bundle which will provide a cost saving.

Out of bundle rates are R2.00 per MB
Bundle rates are R0.80 per MB

These charges would apply whether or not you are tethered to your PC.
