Using open source to turning users into criminals

Bwahahahaha! the RUSSIANS are coming. :wtf:

This will never fly, and if it does we should brand the US as a mental and health risk to all the other sane countries, not that there are many of them left...

But it is true... I always pirate all my open source software. I couldn't be bothered to pay for it.

Well I haven't bought Mark Shuttleworth that beer yet, but then again I haven't met him yet.

WTF are these guys smoking??? I use quite a lot of open source software... Why pay for something when you can get it free. Minimize costs...?? Is that not capatilism??? This really makes no sense... Americans and their stupid politics...

Whatever happened to freedom of choice???? So much for the vaunted American "democracy".

How do these people sleep at night?

I'm trying to think when last I used pirated software? Oh yes, before I switched to Linux.

Apparently not stealing something because you don't have a use for it is as bad as stealing now. You can't win.

They're basically labeling open source developers and users as if they were terrorists or drug dealers when in actual fact they're the ones who want a world where unless you can pay for something you don't get to do anything.

We will always have quality software whether we have to pay for it or not because the best programmers would program if you kept them locked in a room on a diet of bread and water. If they can make a living while providing "free" software so much the better.

LOL .. unreal .. but its ok to charge 2k for a version of windows thats only half as usefull as an open source alternative, that generates hundreds of rands tax throughout its life as it gets sold and resold and resold from MS to Wholesaler to Importer to Shop ... and in the end the user pays 5X its actual price .. but hey .. thats cool .. forget the 20 billion consumers ... pity the poor Microsoft shareholders etc who lose billions to open source .. oops .. sorry .. was I supposed to shed a tear ... nope.

These IIPA guys are reinforcing their image of being just like the maifia

Absolutely ridiculous ....

Even Microsoft/Bill Gates (one of the originators of this theory) has changed their tune...

What a ridiculous concept, open source promotes competition and keeps price down. It enables small businesses a choice on how they would want to spend their resources.

This is more protectionism, Capitalist lobby group my asss! A true capitalist will always support the most cost effective and productive product!

The US is turning a corner, they are becoming more socialist by the day with fascism not to far off. BIG Government and BIG Enterprise combining to push out the small and medium enterprise! Ensuring protectionism for their product.

For those who say this won't happen? I am not too sure :(

Whatever happened to freedom of choice???? So much for the vaunted American "democracy".

How exactly is the minority opinion of a single group representative of American democracy?

Paul Mahler said "Telephony uses an old and inefficient model. Academics and researchers have shared their work for centuries. Scientists publish new discoveries in journals. Imagine where mankind would be if people had been unable to build on the knowledge of others. Yet this is the mentality on which proprietary telephone systems have depended".

Telephony related, but a step backwards. *sigh*

Can I have a pirate copy of Ubuntu please. No seriously, if you burn me I CD, I'll give you a fiver and nobody will be wiser. Actually this is all a plot to get us to pay for free software. Of maybe its a weird marketing campaign by Canonicial to get everybody in the world to switch to Ubuntu? If we know it's the same as piracy every pirate Windows user will swop over. Only natural. Only reason people use Microsoft is because you can crack the software. It's a vicarious thrill of knowing you an outlaw. Now FOSS is about to get the same treatment. I predict this will make FOSS #1 a lot quicker.

LOL.

Capitalism fail. When capitalist countries need to cry on the shoulder of the government, because their competition is under cutting them, that is the day capitalism is dead.

So red hat doesn't charge or make any money? What kind of business model is that? :wtf:

Farken loons!

pathetic- open source is capitalism at its best-
To prove this point take some of the better appliance retailers, they sell their fridges, for example, below cost, and then make a profit by selling a lot of products, really quickly, investing that money, earning interest and then paying their suppliers 3 months later. They have found an ingenious way of lowering prices and still making a good profit.
Ubuntu is no different, they offer a free product, then make their money off training, ubuntu one, a proposed music store etc. I fail to see how this is anti capitalism. Its simply a win win approach to business.
