I loaded the demo on my laptop(8400gs) and it is awesome.. smooths as hell.... couldnt belive it.. that is some smooth lightweight engine

yea its a great engine, puts some other games to shame :D

Unreal egine is the best... I wanna try UT3 on a intel GX3000 intergrated graphics ;)

We loaded up the UT3 Beta Demo on a T43 IBM Thinkpad and it worked. I was amazed. Granted it was at the lowest resolution and with a smaller viewable window but it amazingly works.

I guess that means we can have nice LAN sessions at work from now on. :p

Not to rain on your parade, but UT2003 (Never saw the 04 demo) was released, the demo came with lower resolution textures. For some low-end PCs the demo worked but the real thing did not. No idea about the current UT though. It would certainly be good news if the demo already has full res textures.

I don't think that could be looked as good news (however you look at it), for example, if it only comes with medium detail textures (which may well be the case as there's little difference when taking it up from 3 to 4-5) and everyone is happy or impressed with the quality/performance then how can it be good news not being able to increase the detail further.

If the detail in the full game can be increased further then those with high end hardware (who have paid alot for it) can enjoy even better graphics than the demo showed, and it will also help futureproof the game in the graphics department, so when those with mid-level systems upgrade in future they will be able to enjoy better graphics then previously.

Edit, some detail levels are often left out of demos to help keep the size down.
