My thinking is, if we start paying these prices, they'll up the prices on all games.
Check Crysis, R349!
UT3, R400+
They already increasing the prices and the more that buy those games, the more they'll slowly up them.
I'm not saying PIRATE them, I'm just saying, don't buy them now... wait... then get them when they drop the prices, because the more that are willing to pay the price, the more convince the people to slowly up the prices because they know we are going to pay it.
Before you know it, PC games will cost as much as bloody XBOX / PS3 games and then ALOT of people are just gonna say 'screw it!' It's cheaper to copy!
Just so we clear, I'm only willing to pay MAX R299 for a PC game, anymore more and I literally say "screw it!" I'm going to wait for it to come out cheaper and trust me, those games I've waited for took what... 3 months and then I bought them on special on Take2/Kalahari.net for R189 or something in those price ranges!
Only time I'll make an exception is when the game is a 'collectors edition' and comes with enough goodies to make it worth paying ABOVE average price.

Most I'll pay is R200 unless it is something really special like Crysis. Payed R300 because I had credit with Take2. Normally just pick up budget R100 'classics'. Not much of a gamer so Crysis is gonna last me a long time

I've been buying alot of those 'classic' games these days, simply because I had copies of those games and always wanted to buy them and now I own them (so I tossed the copies) but I will not buy UT3, I will however force myself to buy Crysis because it is simply a awesome game but I can't justify why UT3 is so expensive, I played it, it's NOTHING to write home about.
Seriously, Crysis is just simply amazing, what is so amazing about UT3?
It looks just like the last UT, just 'better' and has some 'extra' types of game play...
My advice, don't buy it, it's not worth the money, but COD4 is, and so is Crysis and hell, even The Orange box is worth it.

I was kinda thinking of COD4, but how is the onlien play? Is there lot of peeps? PLaying that is?

I ussaly wait till SGS has a server up and watch it for a week or two before buying online games
but then again It has bot's and Unreal Warfare is just soo much fun!! *EDIT*
After seeing the Orange Box comment
it's true Orange box is a sweet deal!! IMO Cliffy B was just looking for money

Shank: COD4 has so many people playing it online, it's just simply awesome game to play!
It looks like my Vote will swing to COD4, is there like a ranking system? LIke in BF2?

Yeah, CoD4 ranking and upgrading is awesome. I'd describe CoD4 as a halfway between Counterstrike and Battlefield sans vehicles and on steroids. I wouldn't be in the least surprised if over the next year or so it supersedes Counterstrike as the #1 online game.

Everywhere else in the world PC games cost the same as Console games ~$50-$60. EA set the precedent of dropping the price to R299 and I guess it stuck.
PC games in SA haven't gone up in price for over 5 years, I imagine UT3 is trying to change that. I Believe BioShock was also more expensive?
Personally UT3 doesn't get me going. I saw the engine in GoW and the gameplay just seems so "90's".
