ethernet :

its easy to install (literally plug in the cable and set your connection to connect) and you're able to run about 100 meters of the stuff, so your modem can literally be in the roof if you like, without any type of signal loss (talking about the transmission of data, not radio signal)

I need to put the modem in the roof and connect with ethernet to a Windows PC in the basement. Found this thread but there used to be stickies with idiot-proof help for iBurst basics. Where are they now?

I have tried the obvious, including reading the help files on the distribution CD and FAQ from WBS. No matter what I do, usb works fine, no joy with ethernet. It must be something very basic that I am missng.

Thanks a lot!

Have you disconnected the usb cable totally (from UTD & PC). It seems to have an override ... when plugged in ... disables ethernet.

Yes, done that. It must be even more elementary!

Theres nothing more to do ... if your ethernet port connected to UTD in Window has a link (active) .... then just double click iBurst broadband connection.

BTW: IP address on Windows ethernet (Local Area Connection) is irrelivant.

You are right! Have just taken a fresh PC, loaded iBurst drivers, connected modem with ethernet cable and it works first time out of the box.
Strange but true. I still need to figure out what is wrong with the other PC.
