Hi guys,

A while ago I spoke to a company that had iBurst UTDs for hire for R1000 per month for a 3GB package. Does anyone know who it is?

The only one I could find searching this forum is afrisys, and they're quite a bit more expensive.

Thanks

lol.

No really, it's a grand a month. It sure as hell is cheaper than doing upwards of a gig on HSDPA.....

R1000 is the cheapest I could find - Afrisys charges over R1200 and requires a R2500 deposit for the UTD

<sigh>

No way!!! Buy the bloody UTD for R2000 and pay R599p/m for the G3 contract!

When you are done, sell the UTD for R1700 :) Thus, R300 for your use...

Wel the point is that noone wants to buy the UTD and sign up to use it for a month, and this way its instant, no need to sign up or anything.

I mean they basically make R400 profit for a month of lending the modem, its not that bad.

But a very niche little market too, so they have to charge a bit.

btw, to the poster, all I could find was the same place you are quoting.. no idea who else would do it.. maby a reseller could do it cheaper for you, its easy for them to do the signing up and they have modems lying around.

R 1000 a month?? Thats crazy... Get a second hand 3G card + prepaid! Works out much cheaper!!!!

koffiejunkie if you are that desperate I ask why?Are you attempting a scam? To pay R1000.00 pm with a 3 GB cap is ridiculous. You would pay for my Iburst plus my dsl connection. If you are that desperate you can pm me with your telephone nomber and then I will make a decision as to the cost involved and whether this is a genuine post.

Of course its genuine, hes not wanting to use Iburst by paying for it like like this. He wants it ONLY for a month, or maby a few weeks.

And theres no sense in buying a R2200 modem and then tryign to sell it in a month. This way is probably cheaper and ALOT easier, as you will get the modem already connected and wil just need to give it back.

Say what?! I have no idea what your post is about?!

Placebo, my ADSL line was supposed to be installed on 1 September (after a four month wait). There is apparently a problem with the cabling between the exchange and the distribution box, and it has to be replaced. So it's any ones guess how long that will take. For one of our clients this took less than a week, for another it took several months.

At the moment I'm using a HSDPA card, which is working out hellishly expensive. I live in a house with four people, and we would like to share a connection - that's not even an option on the data card.

3GB should suffice for us for a month, and cost us R200 each. I can live with that until my ADSL is up.

Do you have a spare modem?

Exactly, I don't want to buy a modem and then have Telkom rock up a week later.
