I found out today that we're only getting paid on Sun the 23rd. Now normally if payday falls on a Sat or Sun you get paid on the Fri.

In all my years of working, 18 of them, I have never been paid a monthly salary on a Sun. Plus I have been with this company for 2 years and it's never happened.

****ers, this was the longest ever gap between paydays as well.

Oh, we normally get paid on the 23rd of the month.

Most companies screw up with Jan salaries - this year I'm fortunate to still have 15% of my salary in my bank account before pay day. Learnt from experience a few years back where we got paid 4 days later than normal the one Jan - longest month in my entire life.

I suggest you stick it out until Sunday then, a lot of people get paid late in January as far as I can tell.

Last time I got paid was on the 11th of December last year, next salary is on the 25th this month. I didn't spend a lot of money during the holidays (I was stingy ;) ) and I have about 33% of of my salary in my bank account now.

wow that's bad :erm:. we normally go paid in before 24th so that money is available on 25th, but changed to getting paid on the 25th...

Don't care if I get paid a bit late this month 'cos the company shutdown period during December isn't coming off my leave :D

you're not getting paid on sunday unless you are with the same bank as your company and i assume you get paid via EFT.

Salaries get preference when transfers are made. Companies have arrangements with banks to clear the monies immediately.

Been like that for years.

Strange statement seeing as I did mention I have been working for almost 20 years so I should know what's going on:p

Salaries don't work that way, they should go through the same day

Edit: I see it's been said already

99.9999999999999.2% people make that mistake

Well what do you know, I've been paid.
Not even our finance department knows what's going on. A little scary that is.
Strange, but a happy ending!

Normally the pay dates are included in your employment contract, where they will state that you are paid (for example) on the 25th day of the month and if that day falls on a Saturday, Sunday or Public Holiday, it will revert to the preceding Friday in the case of the former and the previous day in the case of the latter.

So if Friday is a Public Holiday and Sunday is the 25th, then you should be paid on the Thursday (the 22nd).

Ja, problem is I've moved 3 times within the company due to restructuring and everytime I move it's a new contract. First company I got paid on the 25th and the rule was as you stated above. Got 4 days mens maternity leave etc. Second move was paid on the 23rd as you've stated above and got 7 days mens maternity leave, 2 days work/life balance (we could wake up in the morning and call the boss and say we don't want to work that day and it would be OK). Last one is if 23rd is a Sun get paid on the Sat, if 23rd is a sat also get paid on the Sat. They see Sat as a working day. Get 3 days mens maternity leave and no work/life balance.

All the same company, different sub divisions.

That's really crazy!!!
It would be cheaper and more efficient for them to standardise across the board.

The specific date of payment is mandated by law?
