No, not by law but by the employment contract between employer and employee.
So the OP has the date specified in his contract?

Yes.So the OP has the date specified in his contract?
Ja, problem is I've moved 3 times within the company due to restructuring and everytime I move it's a new contract. First company I got paid on the 25th and the rule was as you stated above. Got 4 days mens maternity leave etc. Second move was paid on the 23rd as you've stated above and got 7 days mens maternity leave, 2 days work/life balance (we could wake up in the morning and call the boss and say we don't want to work that day and it would be OK). Last one is if 23rd is a Sun get paid on the Sat, if 23rd is a sat also get paid on the Sat. They see Sat as a working day. Get 3 days mens maternity leave and no work/life balance.
All the same company, different sub divisions.
I'm not far behind... January is a loooooong month!Buggers.. the lot of you..
I only get paid on the 28th![]()
Sheesh, why get paid so early? Seriously, the 23rd and you're disgusted? Over two lousy days? If you really can't make ends meet over the 21st and the 22nd then you need to sit down and have a serious look at your finances. If it was over the end of the month I would agree due to debit orders etc, but you're getting paid a full week before the end of the month and you're disgusted?![]()
Did you actually read the entire thread???
I normally get paid on the 23rd, never been paid on a Sunday, been paid already, must send Madman88 all spare change for reading lessons and some kind of education, maybe throw in some common sense as well....
On 2nd thoughts, maybe nick says it all, will keep spare change rather.
I read everything. Still doesn't change your thread title. Or your one sided blind attitude towards your company. People are so quick to take a "I'm DISGUSTED" attitude. I get paid on the 25th. Come public holiday, Sunday, Christmas day, whatever. Since, regardless of what kind of day I get paid on, its ALWAYS clear by the end of the month it makes no difference to me. As I said, if it makes such a massive difference to you what day you get paid then you need to have a serious look at your finances.
I don't understand this issue of running out of money just because it's January. How do you expenses change so much between December and January that would mean you run out of cash. I always saw the reason December salaries are paid early as being purely an admin thing to get around HR/payroll people being on leave. You still need the same cash each month so what difference does it make if you are paid on a 15th or 25th?
Who said anything about running out of money?
Ja. My post is a bit off your actual topic. I agree with your issue. Weird they change the norm. My post was more aimed at the comment about January being a loooong month.
Well it is, Christmas presents, food for hosting lunches for travelling relatives, going away on holiday, entertainment for new year.
The list of extra expenses at that time of year is endless and I think 95% of the population would agree that the December/January stint is very long money wise.
Surely most people would compensate for it by saving up during the rest of the year? I've personally never found it to be an issue.
The only time when I took some strain financially was when I bought a house (deposit, legal fees, alterations, furniture, etc.) which left me with like R2k in my account. After recovering from that, everything is back to normal again.
I get paid on the 31st but my debit orders are set for the 5th in case of a delay in the transfer.
