UUnet issues

Can you guys post some specific examples of the problmems you are having? I would like to try and duplicate your problems.

Edit: I've started to use TCPIq to test my performance on UUNET uncapped. It is only a single threaded tester though AFAIK.

Hxx, there is no need to complain to UUNet, we've been in contact with them almost daily regarding it and they are well aware of the problems that people are experiencing. I haven't been into the office this weekend but I'm hoping that we might have some additional news to give regarding any potential upgrades or changes to the network during the course of this week.

You are likely to find that HTTP still functions great, however we do know that people that are for example playing World of Warcraft (myself included) are finding UUNet's ADSL unusable at the moment. This is unfortunately a direct result of the international packet loss. All we can *really* wait for is for UUNet to upgrade their ATM link to Miami - at least as a more long term solution.

We do understand that this is highly frustrating for our users (and the users of other ISP's), but know that UUNet does know that there is a problem and is working on resolving it.

Thx Richard, hte frustrating part is 100% - I just want my uncapped ADSL to work like expected.

I've just run my 1st TCPIq test and it showd my upload speed (33.76 KBytes/sec) was more than twice as fast as my download speed (14.52 KBytes/sec).

The other results were: DNS Speed 688.00 mSec and Latency 670.00 mSec

Obviously I'm going to need more results before I pass any sort of judgement.

my results are similar to yours...

i told you guys to go for the 12 month contract with ayce for 480 with 30 gig of info

it may not be uncapped but atleast speeds are as good as ever.

uunet sell uncapped but they forget to tell you that int speeds are not good.

do you think uunet will make money with an uncapped service if everyone is on full throttle?

i dont think so.

How could I have been so stupid :( Let me go sign a 12 month contract at R980 pm for 30 GB from a company that lied to attract customers, right now!

heh. NOT.

I think I will have to post some screen videos of my line saturating on torrents and mult-threaded http downloads. UUNET doesnt deliver full speed on SINGLE thread downloads ... it sure as hell does on multithreaded downloads.

lol
Still - I've had a look at your speed page - here are my latest results:

Number of tests 4
Download speed 184.87 KBits/sec 23.11 KBytes/sec
Upload speed 230.77 KBits/sec 28.85 KBytes/sec
DNS Speed 690.00 mSec
Latency 598.00 mSec

Your results seem even worse than mine!

harth u do know that most ppl signed a 12 month contract at r 480.00 did you see that R480.00 a month not 980.00 your facts are not to sharp.

neither are you boytjie

Look the uunet ISPs never told lies (given a unforseen circumstance on their side doesnt count as a lie in my eyes) vs AYCE who told us "unlimited / uncappped" and what do we get, 30gb cap. From the start they hesitated to give us exact details as to how the service works, now we know and well if people are happy with their service, good for them.

The quote was removed because of a complaints and possible action from DOTCO.

And after 4 days, a company with this intro, still havent been able to remove the R480 offer from their own site????

"bad pings and terrible latency" Oh *** ... I tried hard not to respond but that is just too funny :D

KD does at least provide some amusement for all his faults :D

PS: UUNET has similar or better pings than SAIX (except for that CPT ping I did i.e. 60 vs 30 ms).
