Location: Travelstart Head Office based in Cape Town.
Your core responsibility will be to design and implement a world-class user experience for our customers using your skills in a data-driven approach to web design. You will play a critical role in determining our users’ end to end experience when using the Travelstart consumer facing products.
You will also be required to play an occasional match of foosball.
The key deliverables in this role will be to:
• Designing and developing UI designs for the Travelstart web & mobile products;
• Collaborate with the Product and Dev teams to define, design and deliver new features and key changes to be made on existing/new products;
• Use your UI expertise on best practices to create visual, interactive prototypes and screens that will be used to explain user experiences and application flows to the Developers and project stakeholders;
• Be part of the development process to implement new features, improvements and maintenance related to the UX flow; you will own your ideas so you will be required to both design and implement;
• Keep the design consistent throughout the portfolio of Travelstart products, by continuously updating style guides.
Listed below are the minimum requirements with regards to skills, competencies and abilities needed for this role:
• Excellent visual (sketches, wireframes, screen mockups, flow diagrams, etc.), verbal, and presentation skills;
• Solid knowledge of user experience principles, graphic design standards, design trends, and techniques for web and mobile software products;
• Solid knowledge of HTML, CSS; Knowledge of Javascript a plus;
• Comfortable with a data-driven approach to design;
• Creative passion for web design and technology;
• Continuous research on improvements on visual assets that go hand in hand with new technologies.
Experience:
• Experience with mobile platforms;
• Experience with key web design and prototyping software (e.g. Adobe Suite, Sketch, Invision, or whatever works for you);
• Experience with e-commerce and/or experience in the travel industry is preferable;
• Experience with conversion optimisation or data analysis is a plus.
