I'll get excited when Vaal is over 60%
After those floods, it should be totally full, yes?

Nah, earth is flat, just runs off the sides.

sorta, depends where the runoff & catchment areas are. Was mentioned a few pages behind, i think much of the flood water does not flow to the vaal rather to other dams/rivers
The water from the Roodeplaat dam also ends up in the Crocodile river about halfway between Brits and Thabazimbi. Some flows South into the Vaal river below the Vaal dam. Some flows North West into the Crocodile river and the Hartebeestpoort dam. Other flow North in to smaller dams such the Roodeplaat dam .. The Rains in PTA east all end up in rivers and spruits such as the Apies and Morelata. Parts of the Gauteng feed into the Rietvlei dam.
Johannesburg - The Vaal Dam has reached nearly a third of its capacity as a result of recent downpours, flooding and water released from the Sterkfontein Dam.
However, despite the ailing dam now sitting at about 33.3 percent, almost three percent higher than it was at this time last week, Gauteng residents have been reminded to continue using water sparingly.
Just two weeks ago the Vaal was only sitting just above 26 percent.
“We are still dealing with a drought, we’re still in it. People must continue saving water and using it sparingly, we must act as if there is no water and use it responsibly,” said Sputnik Ratau, spokesperson for the Department of Water and Sanitation
I wish they would tell us what they are using to decide whether the drought has broken, and at what levels they will stop the water throttling.
I suspect they are still using the drought as an excuse for ****ed up infrastructure
