Point of Sale Company based in the North of Johannesburg is currently recruiting a Software Solutions Architect/Manager to join their team. Ideally they would prefer a candidate that has experience in their industry.
Job Description:
The Development Manager is responsible for the overall management of the software development team which includes the solution architecture, maintenance of software and development of new systems and features. This person works closely with the Test Manager to deliver quality software and with Program Managers to deliver on time.
Main job functions and responsibilities:
Engage and manage staff to deliver to corporate technical standards
Software Architecture and Technical Design according to corporate guidelines
Software tools standardization according to corporate guidelines
Best practice Software development process implementation
Requirements
Software development degree or diploma
Experience in managing a software development team of at least 5 developers and testing team
Written and verbal communication, including technical writing skills
Agile and Waterfall development methodology
Working knowledge of the Linux operating system
Working knowledge of C/C++ and embedded systems
Working knowledge of JIRA, Confluence and Jama.
Exposure to Agile
Other skills
Effective time management.
Ability to work effectively within a team environment and achieve results.
Ability to collaborate on a global level in terms of product requirements.
Strong ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively and to work under pressure.
Strong understanding of and adherence to the SDLC process followed by the team
Strong problem solving ability.
Strong attention to detail.
Good presentation skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
Willingness to travel internationally for training and technical workshops.

A working knowledge of the payment card industry, standards and practices.
Qualifications and Experience
BCom/BSc Degree or related IT Diploma in Software Development
Experience in managing a development team of at least 5 developers.
Cost to Company R1 100 000 per annum
