My sister was looking for a laptop, it would be used primarly for work( typing documents) and watching movies. She has a tight budget of about R4000. I came across this today http://www.kalahari.com/electronics/samsung-rv511-a05-notebook/4585/41842597.aspx
What do you guys think? Could I get something with better specs for the price?

Samsung RV511 A05 Notebook
R4000

Technical Specifications:
Intel Core i3 Processor 380M (2.53 GHz, 3 MB)
320GB S-ATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)
2GB DDR3 System Memory at 1066MHz (2GB x 1)
Intel GMA HD (Int. Graphic)
15.6'' HD LED Display (1366 x 768)
DVD-RW
Bluetooth V3.0 High Speed
Genuine Windows 7 Home Basic (64-bit)
Ports:
3 USB 2.0
VGA
HDMI
MIC-IN
Headphone-Out
RJ45
DC-In

looks good enough.

bought my sister the lenovo g550 for the same purpose on Thursday, for 3000 bux with a bag from hifi.

same specs just have a dual core and not a i3, and does not have Bluetooth.

works great and have 3 hours battery life, only feels tad slow boot up times because of the 5400 rpm drive :p

That Samsung laptop is indeed a good option. I just don't know what its warranty period is though.

Usually I'd suggest getting a laptop with at least a 2 year warranty, but on a budget of R4k or less, you don't really get to be picky regarding warranties :(

The only other option that I could find that might be better is the following Fujitsu Lifebook AH530 15.6" laptop: http://www.makro.co.za/p/49803/fujitsu-156-lifebook-laptop/
Unfortunately I have no idea what the resolution of that laptop is and if it has LED backlighting.

The Fujitsu specs look pretty decent. Think I will go to makro and check it out.
