Two months ago I would have drooled over it.

Not anymore - it's the automatic - those cars come with inferior Japanese gearboxes from Toyota/Suzuki.

But apart from the Jap-crap gearbox - awesome cars.

Crappy Jap gearboxes? made by asin? those dont last long.
weren't there a few recalls already?

so who makes these gearboxes GM uses that are so crappy?
and what are the brands to stay away from?
I honestly thought that Aisin box would outlast the rest of our Astra H and am still waiting for the Fiat/Alfa M32 6sp manual in my Astra J to start making pooh-pooh.
Same can be applied to performance models in the Astra H line-up, the manuals are the dodgy M32, autos are Aisin. So you are screwed if you go auto or manual - nice.

On the bright side it's good that Opel knew performance gearboxes were not their forte and outsourced it. The downside being they tend to source cheap parts. Bless Delta Motor Corporation of South Africa for fitting a Getrag F28 to the 200ts.

Our new Corsa E has a pretty slick 6sp manual, it's the M1X with stop/start, and it only has to deal with a whoppinh 85kw from a 3-cyl 999cc engine. I do hope it lasts as I tend to keep my Opels for as long as I can.

Really sucks to be spending R35k on a car and wondering if I'll even get R45k for it - because I have to sell that car soon as it comes back - else I won't make it till payday February.
