Ahhh - the good old days ...
My first job out of the SANDF was at GBS Wang ( circa 1986 ) for a Computer repair Engineer Position, there was no interview, but 2 days of logic , IQ, , Eq tests. they accepted only about 2% of applicants. I was one of the lucky ones.
 
The Banks used to send all their prospective programmers through the VZAP COBOL courses.
