A new thread to allow a link from the FAQ. Content shamelessly lifted from Debbie2's post. Thanks Debbie2!

.

Do you know if Vodacom are going to cut down the waiting time for the helpdesks? The 40 minute wait business is becoming urban folklore.
e.g. Man in Woolworths food queue... "Jirre man, this queue is sommer too long man!". Reply: "Well it could be as bad as waiting for the Vodacom operator." "Everyone Laughs....!!"

I see some group voted Vodacom "best for service".(Not MyADSL) Where do they do the polls?

Thanks a ton V3G.

Any info you can provide us with regarding call centre expansion? If I recall correctly, you said a huge new centre was opening up on 6 June.....?

Latest stats I saw showed that 75% of all calls to 155 are now answered within 20 seconds.

I call 155 typically twice a day to test and the last while never held on for more than 30 seconds.

A huge amount of effort have gone into improving the 155 call desk with a large number of new agents, better IVR functionality, etc.

Maybe actually test it before posting? When last did you call 155?

Let me know when you've dialed from what number and I'll tract it.

I've asked Dot Field to put something together for RPM, who asked the same question. Will get that info and post it.

The new call center is up, not sure how many seats are filled but specifically around 155, a lot of work's been done. Especially the call answer time have come down radically.

I'm pleased you've improved the service. I'm also tempted to say "About time too!" It was only less than a fortnight ago that I waited so long my battery expired. To be reasonable, if the service has been bad for so many years (yes, YEARS) and the same the other week, then I think it's safe to have assumed it is/was the same at the time of posting. No need to get snotty. Just go and read the comments on hellopeter and see exactly what percentage are about service. Vodacom have a lot of convincing to do and I recommend they do it with a humble hat on.

... but surely 155 has evolved enormously since December 2004?

And how. The problem is the growth rate of the 3G / HSDPA customer base, not that anyone is complaining. But it's so rapid that it's near impossible to grow the call desk at the same rate.

It's a simple service to buy, but not so simple to get qualified support people. I think they now have one of the biggest IT training facilities around.

So hopefully it'll continue to improve.

I certaitly get bleery-eyed when i have to email any cartel with an email address that starts with customercare@...........

There are thousands of people working for voda, how about some more specific email adds, to specific departments, c'mon voda3g.

The customercare mail is watched and acted on by a dedicated, 24 hour team.

It makes more sense to use this and be assured someone is following up than to mail individuals or departments who won't have a dedicated mail function.

If you don't get the correct answer, we should rather fix the cause and not the symptoms.

Any feedback on the performance of the e-mail support structure will be appreciated. :)
