To register for VAT my accountant says R2800, online search quickly brings up various options around R1500.00, so I emailed my accountants they too expensive, but might just have to use them cause they have the history.

Looking on SARS website fairly straight forward form to fill out, but I would hate to stuff it up somehow.

So whats the the best option, is DIY doable?

The registration process is nothing ---- its what follows that will drive you up the wall administratively! How did you appoint your accountants? Maybe their high price should lead to you reviewing that decision.

They have generally been reasonable with the yearly whatnot and other things I have required from them.
I am dreading the admin side but dont really have a choice with the vat reg now, missing out on too much business with companies that require vat invoices, unless I just continue with the **** it attitude, if you want a vat invoice buy elsewhere.

do it youself... MY SO went to SARS in Centurion and did it herself... they gave her some documents to complete and take back with some invoices of proof of income and we were sorted, took like 2 days for all of that and we got our VAT No and certificate...

i also know of someone that does do it, around R700, PM me if you would ike his details, i use him for my new company registrations, tax, bee etc....

I just got my accountant to do it. Way simpler and more streamlined.
