So, because I'm still a student and don't earn insane amounts of money every month, I can't get a credit card yet. A few years ago I discovered www.VCPay.co.za which served my needs perfectly. Now they don't seem to work anymore (the last time I used it was somewhere in January and it still worked fine) and keep getting declined everywhere I try to pay with the cards that it generates. I don't know if this has something to do with the app being updated, but the update isn't available for Android yet so that doesn't help me much.

Anyone know what's going on with VCPay? Also, any suggestions for an alternative I can use to pay online with? I can't use my ABSA debit card anywhere online and I don't have the income to get any other type of account.

VCPay has always been horrible.

Anyway, if you're at ABSA you're eligible for a student credit card as long as your income exceeds R200 a month. I've had one for years.

Thanks for the info. Tried to apply online, can't. I'm gonna have to go face my local ABSA branch. That's going to be "fun".

im having the same problem as you. I have called the call centre and they said its due the the recent upgrades on their system and i should wait till next week.

You have to upgrade the app on your device then email them with copy of id and proof of residence.
Then you'll get full access with no limits, i see they even have recurring available so an amount can be pulled for monthly subscription instead of creating a new card every single month.
