VDSL Issues

Sure the filter that came with the new VDSL router was connected correctly?
Why would an older filter suitable for ADSL2+ work better?

Maybe all that was wrong was a dirty RJ45 plug or connection not making properly. Especially given the intermittent nature of the problem and interference when receiving/making a call.

Try simply switching off the router and allowing it to restart and see if you do not get back the full line speed you initially reported.
Then another port reset as a last resort.

Agree with the 2 Mb/s as a maximum overhead.

Another possible issue is with the OS on your PC/laptop.
What OS are you using have you verified that the line interface settings have been optimised and that the MTU setting is correct to fully support a higher speed connection?

Im sure it was yes, before swapping it i unplugged everything and replugged it all in. My line speed went back to 40mbps a day or two ago, not sure what caused it to go back to 40. We use windows 10 on all the computers in the house. Over the past day or two the internet has been really bad, vidoes will only load in 360p and under. My ingame ping spikes up to 400 randomly, telkom says they arent finding any errors and Afrihost is saying the same. Here's a screenshot of my stats: http://www.awesomescreenshot.com/image/2384294/6e62ad7b71b1a7139776025f15a52804 I noticed there is a huge amount of crc errors which i can only assume are bad and possible the cause of my troubles. Why arent telkom picking those up when they run their tests?

All though i cant watch vidoes or stream anything, when i run a speedtest my ping is always below 20, and my download speed is around 2-3mbs off the full 40.

Your advice is appriciated.

Yeah - those CRC are a killer - every bad packet has to be resent how many times?

Do you have a phone on the same line? Check for noise in the earpiece and change the filter if noisy
