I'm considering changing our ADSL line to VDSL at work, mainly for the increased upload speed. Can anyone confirm whether an existing ADSL account (e.g. Afrihost prepaid 1GB account) can be used on a VDSL line? Must VDSL lines be used with VDSL data accounts? Or does VDSL use a different VPI/VCI combination?

Hi There,
Afrihost is only releasing its packages officially last week. Check here for info on the packages that they are offering. The 1MB package is not listed there. For a business the smallest unshaped is going for just under R3000 per month.

Regards

Tim

Good luck getting this installed, I have gone through a couple of Telkom consultants now and they aren't able to give me all the pricing or get the order placed. I just sit listening to silence half the time while they try and figure out what this VDSL thing is I'm talking about.

I'm going to have to go on antidepressants after this :s

Some consultants say I can get VDSL at the address but they don't have pricing on all that is required.

Other consultants have all the pricing but say I can't get at the address as it doesn't fall under one of the suburbs that they were told has VDSL.

I've spoken to about 8 consultants in the last 2 days now and still don't have a order placed for VDSL :-/

Been there, you have to talk about 40mbps, not VDSL.

Yeah, 3rd consultant after this post told me to rather not say VDSL but instead just say 40mb ADSL, the last couple of consultants I kept getting cut off (maybe they mailed each other to watch out for me) but I got an sms just before 6pm with an order number so seems something might be happening :) (no idea what though :s )
