VDSL problem

I recently moved my line to Erasmuskloof. Telkom teck informed me I could get VDSL. After 4 days the order was signed off and I called Telkom to upgrade my 10 Mb ADSL to 20Mb VDSL. Got a Pace modem from Telkom and installed it. The router show 15 Mb downstream on G.992.5-A modulation. Now for the problem Download speed is a constant 1 Mb. Tried different ISP's, Had telkom reset / resync 4 times. No joy.

You must phone telkom again.

Your still on an adsl 2+ profile. They must change you to a vDSL profile.

Thats part of your problem. Who is your isp? And the adsl package your on?

On 100 Gb Capped Afrihost. Telkom has on 4 occasions confirmed that I am on VDSL. I saw that the G.992.5 is a 24 Mb ADSL profile.
Afrihost has a problem seeing my line. On their side it shows "unknown" on line.
 
My line is with afrihost.

My line also got upgrade from 4 mg to an 20 mg vDSL package this week. But it is still syncing at 15 mg. G.992.5 ADSL 2 + profile.

I think it is a problem between afrihost and telkom. If i phone telkom they say my profile must be changed to vDSL but they cant do it since Afrihost owns the line. And if you phone afrihost you get the feeling they dont know about vDSL yet.

Hope this get sorted soon since afrihost is happy to already charge me for a full 20 mg line!

That shows your line is syncing at 15mbps, have you tried a port reset, or requesting a new port? Could be exchange congestion but I doubt it, try a tracert and post the results
 
Common problem. Get hold of someone who knows something at Telkom and ask them to change modulation to VDSL.
 
Yeah similar issues with Afrihost & Telkom when I moved our office line to VDSL last year. Best to pm TelkomZA rep on here and he should be able to sort it out.
 
Good morning folks. Yesterday afternoon out of the blue (grey) a Telkom guy calls me & said he was sorting my line. On a Sunday nogal! So he did something and now my line syncs at 20 Mb G.992 VDSL. But alas! My dowmload speed is still 1 Mb. Telkom guy says there is something wrong with the MSAN, but he did not have the key to open. So this will be sorted today. Lets hold thumbs.

Sorry to hear that you're having these issues. VDSL is still relatively new for us (and Telkom).

Please drop me a PM and let me see what I can pick up on the line. Sounds to me like you might be on ADSL 2+ and not VDSL modulation. If we manage the line, we might be able to request that Telkom correct this.
 
Just watch out with billing as well when you get your next Telkom bill. They charged me R595 as a "general adjustment" to move to VDSL. I logged a call about it but Telskum still haven't replied
 
Also did the VDSL thing. Synced at 15Meg (ADSL 2+) until I verified my order at www.telkom.co.za/verifyadsl. Since the verification it synced at 20Meg down 2Meg up.

Only problem now is only getting a 14Meg max in download. Upload max at 1.9Meg which is standard.
 
My max dl is 18mbps with upload around 1.9.

Make sure your router stats show you on G.993 and not G.992 as well

Hmm, they billed me that amount too for "upgrading" from 20Mbit VDSL to 40Mbit VDSL. I went to a Telkom store and they logged the dispute, the amount was credited back to my account a week later.

yeah they just called me and said they will credit the amount. Sneaky of them
