VDSL Roll Out Halted?

I remember when the IMAX here was still on ATM links and was so congested Telkom battled to get it on to ME due to spares, about 2 years ago. But it now has a gigabit ME link. Which brought latency down from 50ms to 8ms. I fought tooth and nail to get Telkom to fix it. I spent a whole year fighting and sending letters. I knew what was going all the time. Even ICASA got involved.
There was a further complication. When the IMAX was installed it had a 32-bit backplane broadband bus and these all had to be replaced with 64-bit boards before the metro-ethernet could be connected.

Other than the ones at Quigney baptist, Hemmingways and the other one that I cant remember where it is :p

On the map I last checked there was only one. But WTF does Quigney Baptist area need VDSL , doubt anyone in that area can afford it ?
Strange that Beacon Bay (with all the new office buildings etc.) don't get priority.

I have a feeling you are in the same boat as me... skip VDSL and straight to fibre.

Yes fibre will be good.

I tried Telkom's LTE tonight. Speeds are good around the 20mbps , but latency is about 80ms more to int. gaming servers. Not sure if I'm willing to sign 2years contract for that R599+ uncapped account.

What I would give for a fibre connection. Telkoms fibre link to our exchange runs under the pavement in front of my shop.... so close yet so far away.
