Dunno if i am posting this in the wrong forum, but where can you get a VDSL capable router that can replace the Pace one that telkom provides. have been looking online, but can't find anything

Background : My boss has 40mbps VDSL line at home, but don't find the Pace router flexible enough for my liking. There are certain functions we used on his netgear that are not available. Also the wifi repeaters i had in place for his netgear are just not working with the Pace one

Please advise

The only other VDSL router I could find was that from Billion. I was interested in buying it, however Billion SA advised me via email that it wasn't fully tested by Telkom yet and could not guarantee that it would work. The model I'm referring to is the 8200N. Was about R1621 iirc, but will see if I can find the website again and post the link.

PS: Looking at the emails I sent them, they replied that it isn't available in South Africa yet either, so your boss will have to import something then.

this guy use to sell it on bid or buy , maybe he can get it again.

I also found that on bidorbuy back in the day, but there was another site which had it in stock, trying to find it again but it wasn't one of the more well known online retailers.

Found it: http://www.wedamart.co.za/billion-b...ewall-router-300mbps-802.11n-vdsl2-black.html

Well, it was still in stock about 2 months ago, but not anymore :p

Can't you use the Pace router as a modem only then stick something like a MikroTik behind it to handle your routing?

The main problem is it is a home installation, and so want to limit the amount of equipment there is scattered around.
I already tried to use the netgear adsl router to do that, but it forces everything to be routed through adsl, doesnt allow changing of default gateway.

You will need a router with a WAN port or one of the newer Netgear's that has both WAN and ADSL ports. I see that the new TP-Link's also have WAN support on the first LAN port.

Yeah, the wifi repeaters are all TP-link ones anyway. Think will go for a TP-Link with ethernet WAN port.
Am a bit surprised that there are no other VDSL routers out there though.
