Upgraded to 40MB VDSL on Tuesday from 20MB ADSL2+

Line went down few hours after that -Voice is fine.

Not syncing.

Logged a fault - been 3 days.

I have a VDSL Router

Anyone else experience this?

Nope, I had no downtime when I was upgraded from 10Mbit to 20Mbit VDSL.

They just screwed up my line speed profile (put me on 40Mbit) and therefore my line did not want to verify - so I was stuck using the Telkom test account for a night.

Contact TelkomZA (either here or Facebook/Twitter), you're just going to waste your breath with the call centre.

You might be too far away to get VDSL sync.

You shouldn't need to activate it if you already had a DSL profile active.
Get your ISP/Telkom to do a line sync and drop the speed to 20Mbps and try that. If you are too far from the MSAN, copper quality is bad, line attenuation, snr etc etc etc are all factors that will affect it also. Especially between 20Mbps and 40Mbps. On 40Mbps, your tolerances are much lower. Good luck.

I'm about a km away.
Should I call to try activate it?

It will still sync and you can still dial up the ISP accounts but you will not be able to get websites to load if it is not verified. So that will not work.

Drop TelkomZA a message on Twitter or this forum. I think Twitter may be faster.

I had a similar problem and the solution was to connect via my main jack in the house (the Telkom jack closest to where the outside line enters your house)

I had the exact same problem when i tried to upgrade to VDSL. Even though the ADSL checker said i was eligible for 40mbps VDSL it turned out that in my location specifically it was just too far to sync on VDSL. As soon as they switch me over the line did not want to sync. After sitting on the phone with TelkomZA we found that if it was set to ADSL2+ it would sync fine.

I had to end up being put on 18mbps ADSL2+ modulation to get a good sync.

Useless Technician arrived, went to exchange he says I can only sync at 10mb lol!
I had a perfectly stable 20MB

When I upgraded to 40 mbps VDSL I had to activate the line before I could use it. Before that I was on 10mbps.

How do you do that?

https://secureapp.telkom.co.za/ADSLVERIFY_NEW/

You need your landline number as well as the order reference, so you might need to call Telkom on 10210 for that.
I had to.

If you do need to verify your line, then your line will sync, accounts will dial up but won't have internet access - except for the Telkom Guest account which will give you access to Telkom's website.
