By the title of this thread, do you think exchange congestion's will increase or decrease?

I am glad to report that where I live, we do not have any exchange congestion, but the exchanges only supports up to 4 Mbps :crying:.

Oh one more question. Why would MTN lay fibre optics in a small suburb like Blanco?

yes if your area have a MSAN it will have a much bigger backbone then a 10mps or 4mps area.

Probably to self-provide their backhaul links to nearby tower(s) and not rely on Telkom's 2Mb/s links....

Good, but here in Blanco we already have excellent signal, on all the providers i.e Vodacom, MTN....?

The network operators want their own backhaul links and don't want to lease Telkom lines.

Okay, but they have been busy laying the cabling way out from where the nearest tower is. I think they may be planning on FTTH?

Maybe big business there?

Nope, just a residential. Which is very weird. The nearest cell tower from me is the one at Fancourt, but I think they already run on fiber.

But if they would want to connect their own towers with their own fiber, why run the fiber through up in Maitland Street and then down in Searle Street? Why not just directly down Montagu Road to the cell tower?

And some fiber company is now digging up all the way to the George Airport. Here are some pictures that I posted on the forum.

Is there anyone of you that may know who I can contact at MTN to get more information?
