We decided to go vegetarian for a week, every so often. It's a bit challenging getting the menu right, though.

I have done veg curry, salads galore, baked beans and tonight is veg biryani.

Any of you ever do this and where do you get inpiration for good menus from ?

Thanks

Funny that you mention that, my wife just started us on our 3-week vegetarian diet this week. Currently holding up and not missing meat (yet)...

1 year and counting (vegan). Still don't miss it (although I did succumb to christmas lunch). Not gonna be anal about it.

Why did you turn vegan ?

Has nothing to do with animals (which is what most people attribute veganism to I suppose).

Did a lot of research on animal protein and milk, and what it does to the body. Decided to cut down dramatically. I'll still eat the occasional burger if there's nothing else around, or if I'm out at a carnivore's place for dinner I won't fuss about a little meat. As long as I cut out most of it i'm happy. I can count on my fingers how many times I've had some form of meat in 2012. I've cut out almost all dairy as well, except for the occasional chocolate etc (have gotten so used to soy milk that cow milk tastes strange these days).

You do need to watch what you eat though. A lettuce sandwich won't get you any form of nutrition, but there's enough variety out there though if you open your eyes.

Veg lasagna
pastas
veg or lentil soup
broccoli bake
bean bunny
veg caseroles
veg pizza
veg wraps
veg risotto

There's lots, google will keep you busy for hours

The problem with going veg is that it seemingly makes people rely on a lot of starch, which is fattening - rice, pasta, bread!

Nice one, Blu!

A fantastic resource that I use a lot is The Post Punk Kitchen. http://www.theppk.com/recipes/
