What would be a reasonable premium for comprehensive vehicle cover, taking into account the regular driver has only had a license for about 5 years?

Outsurance quotes R 2 200 / month

The limited cover (3rd party, fire & theft) = R 896 / month) and the 3rd party only = R 151.08 / month.

Depends on the car obviously, in fact you deserve a good dose of sarcasm for hat oversight ;)

Advice: link it to your household insurance and negotiate a good rate. Also: forget about outsurance and any other insurance company that advertises on the back of You magazine.
Get real cover, enjoy real peace of mind.

Remember don't cut out the middleman because you will get screwed.

Phone hollard for a quote. Then go back to back the outsurance and show them the quote and watch them match the lower price. Still you have not mentioned what car nor how old the person driving is and whether they are male or female. Info bluno info.

Well i look at this way, outsurance quoted me 1k for my fiesta 1.4k and i am 28.

I pay 500 odd rand with hollard, now let's call 500 bucks a month i save by using hollard. 500 x 12 = 6k a year i save so let's say you save that for 4 years without incident that is 24k your saving. 2.2k for a car that is 5 years old? You can get a half decent car for that price and just get 3rd party damn.

Also how much driving will this person do? My fiancee uses pay as you drive from hallard and that costs us about 350 a month with a tracker device installed.

You haven't discussed the excess payments, though.

Gotta love insurance companies. We cancelled with one and went to another one and now they are running around, calling us and offering revised deals and lower premiums!

When will these people learn that you should treat your clients well and offer them the best deal WHILE YOU HAVE THEM and not wait till they wanna leave you??

I'm tempted to change mine too... I'm over 25 and they didn't offer me a reduction in premium after installing a tracker system.

(I think they're still peeved with me for rolling my 1st car two months after insuring it with them :p )

If the driver is male and under 25 that would push the premium up considerably too. But i'm sure you already knew that, so don't know how valuable my input is.

try PSG consult or even PPS insurance.... so far .. PSG have given me the cheapest and PPS is second ... but with PPS u can get 20% off ur current premium ... or something to that effect .... since I was with PPS, they could not give me 20% off their current premium :D ... so i moved to PSG. Just be careful with PPS, as I had like 3 increases(premium/admin) in the past 6 months .. but they are still cheaper than most out there :)

PPS is underwritten by Hollard and their excess payments are crazy.
